The Spy and the Traitor: The Greatest Espionage Story of ... - I came to this book via “A Spy Among Friends”, Ben McIntyre’s fine book on Kim Philby with extensive references to the Cambridge spy ring. Although there is no-one of the extraordinary, and charismatic nature of Guy Burgess here, the book is utterly compelling. Quite apart from its deadly serious matter, the book is an enthralling read.

Nicholas Elliott - Wikipedia - Escape of Kim Philby. In With My Little Eye, Elliott gives an account of his last contacts with Kim Philby, in 1963. Appendix: A Gallery of Archetypes - Caroline Myss - Many Americans see Gary Powers as a heroic figure, while Double Agents such as Robert P. Hansson or British intelligence officer and Soviet spy Kim Philby are considered traitors. The shadow side of these archetypes can manifest as voyeurism, falsifying information, or selling out to the highest bidder.
The Spy and the Traitor: The Greatest Espionage Story of ... - Another great books just finished recently is A Spy Among Friends: Kim Philby and the Great Betrayal. Both are highly recommended. Both are highly recommended. Excellent account on life of Oleg Gordievsky (if you want to check for his autobiography - check Next Stop Execution: The Autobiography of Oleg Gordievsky ).
Agent Sonya: Moscow's Most Daring Wartime Spy by Ben Macintyre - Ben Macintyre is a badass writer of narrative nonfiction about lesser known historical figures from the World War II era. I read and reviewed his blockbuster, A Spy Among Friends: Kim Philby and the Great Betrayal, which was published in 2014; when I was invited to do the same for Agent Sonya, I didn’t hesitate.
